Telling Time by Sound with a Minute Repeater
 

A Minute Repeater allows you to tell the time by listening to a series of sounds. 
The sounds are produced by pushing a button or a slide lever on the side of the watch.

The hour, quarter-hour and minutes each produce a distinctive sound.

DING               =   1 HOUR
DING-DONG   =   1 QUARTER-HOUR
DONG             =   1 MINUTE

If you push the button on your Minute Repeater and hear these sounds:

DING, DING, DING, - DING-DONG, - DONG, DONG, DONG, DONG

You will know that the time is 3:19.
